For Chainmaille: Works most often with 1/4" jump rings. This size matches the size of a 16g 1/4" jump ring exactly. This is a fairly skinny ring for its size. These work best in weaves where the O-Ring is folded in half or doubled.
For leather: This size fits Regaliz leather (oval leather cord). This size is skinnier than the 10mm and 12mm orings to enable it to sit flat on flat leather and create a skinnier line of decoration when used with 10mm or 12mm leather.
